ASkolnick
I pass, but it is really a style thing. I tend to play more constructive preempts than most.
TylerE
2♠ is sufficient preemption. If the suit was ♥ I'd be more tempted to open 3, but still probably not.
dicklont
2♠ will do, but I won't always open it. First seat, maybe.Second seat, no.Third seat, always.
MFA
2♠. But I'm not far from 3♠. Upgade the clubs to JTxx, and I'm there.
brianshark
A bit light for a standard 2♠ but the nice shape makes it ok.
rogerclee
2♠, pass is not an option at these colors.
jdonn
2♠. I think 3♠ is fine in abstract, but this hand is too much weaker in terms of playing strength than most other hands where I open 3♠ so I think it would make life too hard on partner. P_Marlowe
Hi, 2S. As always a matter of partnership agreement. I think, it i is more a question between Passand 2S, I dont think 3S is really an option. You are in first position, not in third, not in second either, but ... you have spades, and thesuit is not really good. I would go with 2S, but if you play a more conservative style, Pass would be fine as well. With kind regardsMarlowe
Free
3♠ with regular partners, 2♠ with others (since they don't play trash preempts)

Finch
2♠. I think 3♠ is fine in abstract, but this hand is too much weaker in terms of playing strength than most other hands where I open 3♠ so I think it would make life too hard on partner. In one partnership I've been persuaded (told!) to play that first seat at favourable, 3S is a weaker call than 2S. Thus this hand is a 3S bid for us, change the spades to AJ10xxx and it's a 2S opening. I'm definitely getting the hang of these openings, the other week I hadK9xAxxxKQ10xQx and partner opened 3S in first seat, favourable. I passed throughout as the opponents bid up to 5C, which was the correct decision.
