jdonn
I'm not sure why you think this is too strong. It's not like we have 7 diamonds or something. I hate to sound old, but just because you have full values for your bid doesn't make the hand too good for that bid.
Fluffy
I forgot the final question, if you think 3NT is obvious, is there any range where you don't open 2♣ but you are too strong for 3NT?
jdonn
I forgot the final question, if you think 3NT is obvious, is there any range where you don't open 2♣ but you are too strong for 3NT? With 6 diamonds, no. With 7 diamonds, maybe. With 8 diamonds, definitely.
han
This hand is perfect for 3NT. With 8 diamonds I usually don't want to rebid 3NT.
mikestar
It would take a longer suit than this to be too strong for 3NT but not enough defense for 2♣. Personally, I would use 4NT in this sequence to show a hand similar to 3NT but too strong (say 10.5 tricks). Why jump into Blackwood when you have so much room to investigate. This requires partnership agreement and absent such agreement, a hand like 5KQ4AKQJ1062AQ needs to open 2♣ in spite of only 4.5 quick tricks, not because you will miss game opening 1♦ (this hand has no prayer of game opposite a zero count or even the ♠K), but because there is no way to indicate the slam prospects without opening 2♣. han
There certainly are balanced 0-counts where that hand wants to be in game, though I admit it is unlikely. I would also open 2C.

mtvesuvius
There is absolutely nothing wrong with 3NT, however I would have probably opened 2♣ to begin with... How I wish we were playing precision.
