Do you like your chances? Anyone has idea what is the best line here, mathematically and otherwise? What distribution allows you to make? ( Hint - I am told made on triple squeeze or defensive error, one of these;))
kenrexford
This could be rather simple. I mean, the club finesse and the diamond finesse are allowed to work, aren't they? As to best line? Ugh! I see several possibilities, and I hate these hands. Why do I have to have that stupid spade 10 to make things even more complicated!!! maggieb
Seems like the simple line is also the best line. Finesse in clubs and play for a diamond-spade squeeze on either defender. Bridge is an easy game sometimes! Though it is a worse line, if you told me west had all three guards, I would be very happy to triple squeeze him with a crisscross ending!!! jikl
What is the opening lead? Sean
dcvetkov
What is the opening lead? Sean Hmm not really, sure, lets assume heart opening lead Seems, you have to come to trick 12 first,, and then squeeze someone in the other 2 suits, or if West have all 3 guards, triple squeeze yiellding 2 extratricks is possible. Ok, Maggie you got your wish;)
Fluffy
I ain't really familiar with triple squeezes, seems to me the easy line maggie suggested is what I would do. With the extra of maybe reading the ending and maybe doing diamond finese instead of play for the drop.
whereagles
I'm into the club finesse + ♦J dropping or S/D squeeze on west.

Do you like your chances?Anyone has idea what is the best line here, mathematically and otherwise? What distribution allows you to make?( Hint - I am told made on triple squeeze or defensive error, one of these;))[/hv]Thank you dcvetkov. On a ♥ lead, it costs nothing to cash 6 rounds of ♥ discarding 2♠. You intend to cross to ♠A (Vienna Coup) and finesse ♣, for an automatic squeeze. But if the cards lie as above then West has already been triple-squeezed by the 6th ♥. West does best to abandon a minor guard, hoping that you don't realize what you've accomplished. If West mistakenly bares his ♠K, however, then it will drop when you cross to ♠A. If you work out West's problem, then you can successfully avoid the ♣ finesse.Double dummy, you still succeed if ♦T and ♦9 are exchanged in the above diagram. Then, on the 6th ♥ West does best to abandon ♦; but now you cash, 4 rounds of ♦, discarding a ♣, to execute a criss-cross squeeze.

Do you cash the spade ace viena cup or leave it in dummy Actually west is picked on penultimate trump x - AK10x QJ K-JxxxKx Q xx Qx Ax
jdonn
Do you cash the spade ace viena cup or leave it in dummyThe easiest make on this layout is just running diamonds with the aid of a finesse, and later squeezing west in the black suits. Not playing off the spade ace first, it's a necessary entry. Actually west is picked on penultimate trumpNot really, he can unguard diamonds and then you can't repeat the squeeze.
