Cascade
I guess this was too boring or too difficult or a non-problem ... Maybe I should have added if you play the ace declarer follows with the ♠2. Now the problem as I saw it was: Does partner have ♠ J87 or ♠ 76? Then the next issue was how good are declarer's diamonds? And does declarer have the ♥A? With something like: ♠ QJxx♥ Ax♦ AKQxx♣ xx or Jx We need to switch to a club - maybe low but ace might be fine at MPs whereas with: ♠ Qxx♥ Ax♦ AQxxx♣ Kxx We need to set up our spades to beat the contract for sure
Echognome
I think it's more likely that declarer has a good spade stopper than a marginal one, given the free 1NT call, so I would switch to a club.

Ace or low? Low at IMPs because you want to defeat the contract but this is MPs?
kfay
I'd continue spades. With QJ8x wouldn't declarer play low off dummy? This seems like it will generate more spade tricks to me. So I play partner for 3 spades.
