There are many specieis of precision and NONE of them agree about the minimum number of Diamonds that partner has shown. Kinda important...

With this said and done, this looks like an easy double.

Let's analyse what partner may have. I'll make only one assumption about our agreements--we won't open 1D with 6 or more clubs (barring the x=x=5=6 hand).

If partner has a four-card major, he bids his major and X is a big winner, so our only concern is when he doesn't.

Will partner have a stiff or void in diamonds? Only if he has 1 or 2 four card majors--so we can exclude this.

Two diamonds? Yes if we bid some of out NT hands via 1D. The only problem hand is 3=3=2=5. Will partner leave us in, expecting a stiff instead of a void--maybe, especially if his clubs are strong, but he may bid NT if our agreements allow, or may bid a three card major.

Three diamonds? Could be (3-2)=3=5 Here he is less likely to leave it in, because the 4-3 fit may play well opposite 4-4 majors.

Four diamond? 2=2=4=5 may pass with good clubs. (3-1)=4-5 is almost certain to bid the three card major.

Five+ diamonds? Now he either has less than five clubs and won't pass or he is 5-5 or better and either won't pass or the enemy probably runs.

So our losing cases are 2=2=4=5 and 3=3=2=5 with possible losing cases of 3-2-3-5 and 2-3-3-5. X should work out well anytime partner has a four card major or real diamonds. X is clearcut.

"I reckon I am just about worth a forcing noise. I bid 2♠."

Showing a good 5 card suit and forcing. Hmmmm! Hiding the H suit. Hmmmm

"In this position I won't double 2c with a void, pd can have a club suit "

I hope he does and passes the X! 3C gives up on a penalty X and endplays partner into bidding 3N on a moderate hand with no M and a C suit.

What else do you want him to bid on KJx Kxx xx KQxxx

(Mind you, as Richard points out the following information would help:

NT range

No of Ds required/allowed for 1D opening and possible hand types allowed

Possible distributions for 2C opening)

However on the given information -

X is automatic.

In this position I won't double 2c with a void, pd can have a club suit so I only double with 1/2/3 clubs so leaving the double is an option and not a guess if pd has clubs.

I bid 3c unassuming cuebid.

What are you going to bid over partner's 3D reebid ?

Are you giving up on the excelet chances for a major game here ?

Well I have always been an aggressive bidder...

So I bidded 4 ..hopping that my p had 4 in anymajor suit and sign off in 4 or 4 Telling my p that I have a good suit and support for any other suit bid...this is the hand opposite mine...

Q 9 8

Q 9 7 4

A 5 2

A 9 5 3

Well like anything else ...it is important to have a good understanding of your p and the game...so ...one has to ask themselves ..how may points does my p have ? and what contract is best...so as my p...what would you bid...;)

I take back my 2 bid. There I was thinking I had KQT83 but they were . I have seen players fail to put down trump suit on the right, but never before come across a hand written down in any order other than .

Oh well, first time for everything I guess.

Whew! I was wondering what in the hell you were doing!

"Well I have always been an aggressive bidder...

♥ Q 9 7 4

♦ A 5 2

♣ A 9 5 3

Well if that is the hand opposite the 4C bid, and I understand what the huge 4C overbid was, then I guess I bid 4H. Isn't that why you bid 4C in the first place? Imo you are at least an Ace and the J of D shy of a 4C bid, but if your partner is awrae of your overbidding tendencies you might have a lucky make

The way I play 2NT: take out, rf, inv+, because dbl will be optional. My p will bid 4 with his hand as accept game, but unwilling to play slam and I will pass 4.

Good reason not to play 1 as a mini-NT plus other hands as well. Most of the time it will be the mini-NT but not often enough to justify the assumption.

Still, 4 has chances on that hand, at least. I'd be more worried partner would turn up with:

Qxx

AQx

xx

KJxxx

With this 12-count we are going nowhere.

Is 2 forcing after 1 by partner and 2 by opps?

Still, what do I do now after a 2NT response?

Double is not so bad - if partner passes and it makes at least it doesn't give them game.
