cloa513
[hv=d=n&v=b&n=sj9hjtdkqt74ca974&w=shak873daj86ckj82&e=sq8532h964d2ct653&s=sakt764hq52d953cq]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I was East and we were playing Precision. In the original bidding, 1S, 4H all pass which went down two. Partner being a sometime high card point plus distibution obsessive valued her hand as about 25. I would say you should start by doubling the 1S, I expect that would have been redoubled, what do you suggest the bidding should continue. Is it sensible to avoid 4H and if so how do avoid getting so high when the doubler is so powerful?
Hanoi5
If it goes 1♠ X XX I'd bid 2♣, just because I play pass to be punitive in these instances. However, I think my partner should bid just 2♥, which shouldn't go wrong with a spade void (it's not gonna be 1♠ 2♥ pass pass pass, unless partner has the hand you had or one more spade and then it won't be so bad to play just 2♥)
matmat
4♥ is way out there. it's only a 5 card suit, and a bad one at that. West knows they will be tapped on opening lead. I think i would settle for a simple 2♥ myself. I'm ok with X too...
Codo
To bid 4 Heart is throwing a grenade into the air and wait who will be hit when it falls down. Most times you hit yourself, as your partner here. He has two possibilities: X to show all suits and 2 Heart, showing 5+ Hearts.I prefer the first, because I guess it has more upsides to show three suits then one, but there are many promoters for the second view who claim: Never double with a void, show your major asap. If he starts with X you should not sit the XX but bid 2 Club.It is a matter of agreement whether your possible pass shows the willingness to play 1 Spade XX or whether it shows that you have no preference in the other suits. I guess the later is much more common, because you seldom (never) have a hand where you sit in front of the 5 card suit and still want to defend. Anyway, you have a clear 2 Club bid. After this bid, your partner should pass and you are happy to reach a good contract. After a start with 1♠ 2 ♥, there will be no problem either. North will double for take out and they will play 2 Spade or something higher, which is okay for you too.
helene_t
(1♠)-x-(xx)-2♣(2♠)-3♣-a.p. W has only two options: dbl or 2♥. I prefer double but I know some prefer 2♥, the idea being that 2♥ followed by a double of 2♠ (if NS bid that) shows a hand of this strength. Over the redouble you bid 2♣ and S presumably bids 2♠ since pass would show a stronger hand. W cannot safely bid his hearts now. I think 2NT should be good/bad here so 3♣ is constructive.
