han
A10xxAKJ10xxAKx Playing 2/1 with a strong 2C opening, after which 2D is waiting (2H would show hearts) and 2C-2D-2H is Kokish, what do you open?
hrothgar
I'd open 1♥. I consider this clear cut. Yes, I could miss game if it goes 1♥ - float, however, a 2♣ is really going to cramp my auction
kfay
I'd open 1♥ just because I hardly ever open 2♣. I have absolutely no problem with 2♣ and might bid it myself if it crossed my mind at the time.

MarkDean
I would open 1♥. I am not so worried about all pass, but that partner will not believe I am this strong and we will miss a few slams. Still, seems better to start getting my suits in early. Not to hijack the thread, but why is Kokish so popular? 24+ hands are so rare, it does not seem like it is worth the price to me.

What's the cost? Wrong-siding the spade contract?

The cost is that responder says nothing until opener finishes describing his hand, so the auction is much more cramped. Responder can't introduce spades at the 2-level over hearts, and his 3♥ preference after opener finishes describing his shape can be made on a large variety of hands (strong raise, weak raise, doubleton preference). Basically you lose a substantial amount when you have hearts. One fix to that problem is to open a lot of the weaker hands that are strong with hearts (especially hearts+spades) with 1♥! whereagles
I would bid 2♣ and the rest depends on what exactly 'kokish' is.
