han
Alright. I still won't bid 3NT. We just have so few points and so many clubs that it is very unlikely that 3NT gets passed out. If it doesn't then it will only help the opponents. 5C is not as macho but will make it harder for them to figure out strain and level. hrothgar
I lean towards 5♣ = 50% of the time4♠ = 10% of the time4♣ = 10% of the time3N = 30% of the time 3N is a LOT more attractive if RHO has hitched at all
skjaeran
5♣ for me, to take away as much bidding space as possible - within limits. ;)
mikeh
My call depends on my opps... against competent opps, 5♣, since anything else will (shortly) reveal my psyche and thus be encouraging to them, while maximizing bidding space. Note that if a new suit were nonforcing, I'd be happy bidding 3♠, but who plays that? Against weak opps, I'd bid 3♠ and pass partner's raise (in my dreams :P ) I have gone down 12 before, and so down 10 is a good day ;)
whereagles
The 3♠ psyche was already debated, so I'll try for one of 3♦ :D
jdonn
I think you can make a good case for either 5♣ or 6♣. If I were to psych it would be spades, 3NT does not appeal at ALL.
cherdano
I admit I once played against opponents who passed over (3♣) P (3♠) but would have bid over (3♣) P (5♣), but if opponents have any clue there is no point in psyching. So I don't see all that many options.I would choose 5.
effervesce
4♠, "to play" if they play takeout Xes at that level; if double of 4♠ is cardshowing I bid 4♥.
Cascade
3N is a LOT more attractive if RHO has hitched at all Just to give him a second chance to bid (or more likely double) at a low level.

helene_t
Bonus question: how did we win 15 IMPs on this board? Answer: P had ♠xxxx and ♣Axxxxx. Kevin sacced 7♣ over 6♠ which went five down. At the other table they must have had a misunderstanding and/or slip as they sacced in 6♠(!) over 6♦ and didn't escape when it was doubled
hrothgar
3N is a LOT more attractive if RHO has hitched at all Just to give him a second chance to bid (or more likely double) at a low level. RHO can't be sitting on a penalty double. There's no way in hell that he can have enough clubs to plan on passing and then converting a double. If he hitched, its because he has some values, club shortness, and no good call. In other words, the values are split between RHO and LHO. Let's assume that the auction starts as follows: (3♣) - Slow Pass - (3N) - ??? I'm sitting on a decent hand and some values... My partner's hitch has now barred me from taking any kind of agressive action... Sure, if I have a clear cut call, I can double or bid 4M what have you. However, please recall that the values are evenly divided, making it MUCH less likely that I'm sitting on a nice unambigous call...
