Pass, and see what happens. Yes, it might go p-(1)-p-(4). However, look at the hand. Everything is breaking badly for opponents? Who says they're making anything?

Are you seriously suggesting that you will pass 4S here? That's amazing.

Direct 4C for me.

Just because everyone love 4, let's me speak about a different point of view.

1) Obviously I'm not sure how points are divided, but it's more normal (I presume) they will be (near) 11-11-11. So normally "someone" have a partial to play. Not game.

2) Why they shoud pay 1100? Let's think about a more normal 2 off

3) Why p should double? Yes..he will double with a stack of trumps... but it's a correct hope?

4) Opening 4 make impossible for us to play 3NT (Lapalice dixit)

No..No... I'm not hoping to play in , because my idea is to open 3... my bet is for a normal and ordinary 3NT...

yes...yes... this is the reason I'm lacking kibitzer when I play... B)

Hoping for 3NT is a long shot when I have an ace-less hand with two singletons.

I am happy to give up on that possibility to make life difficult for the opponents often and occasionally for partner.

I would like to join in Cascade's objections to your reasoning. Let's take your example the the other players average 11-11-11. True, but...

- If your partner is much better than that, he probably has an easy raise to game.

- If your partner is worse and your LHO or RHO is better, the opponents probably have a game so you want to preempt them as much as possible.

- If one of your opponents is worse and one is better then the better hand may act and get his side into deep trouble.

- Even if the strength is about even between the other players, you have good chances to make 4, or have it be a cheap save against something they can make.

One table:

3-p-3NT-4-end

Other table

3-p-3NT-4

p-p-5-p

p-5-p-p

6-doubled by someone

Seems to me East probably has an uneasy pass over 4-p-5.

I think the South club bidders are "resulting" and it borders on malicious. They are lucky that their North partner has a good hand. In a normal bidding sequence, isn't North going to open? ...and isn't South now going to bid the clubs vigorously?

Resulting is when you're influenced by knowing the hand and what is "right".

I believe none of the 4 openers had any idea about the whole hand, and bid what they meant was the correct bid with this hand. I surely did.

As all gave there vote before they saw the hand, there was surely no resulting.

It should be no difference on this hand anyway, I doubt that E/W will find 6 Spade, even undisturbed, so you must find the 6 Club safe or defend 5 Spade for an average board.
