Walddk
4♣, clubs and a major, forcing. 4♦ by advancer asks for the major. No reason not to use leaping Michaels in this situation. I don't want to see 3♣ being passed or double and a 3♠ response. Get both suits across immediately. Roland
jdonn
I assume that we are not playing LM here or else it would be obvious. I will go with 4NT. What else could it mean? Might get to 5♥ when I belong in 4, but any other choice is either too big of a misdescription or too risky for me to consider.
awm
I would never double on this hand. Partner is unlikely to stop bidding spades if I do. Leaping michaels is obvious if you play that. Otherwise perhaps 4♦ shows a strong two suiter. Or I could bid Josh's 4NT call. Even 3♣ (hoping to bid hearts at next turn) seems better than double. Walddk
Leaping michaels is obvious if you play that. Otherwise perhaps 4♦ shows a strong two suiter. It will be difficult to control unless 4♦ shows the majors specifically. You will often end up at the 5-level. By the way, did OP write that leaping Michaels is excluded? He asked overcall or double. 4♣ is an overcall. Roland

cherdano
I agree with 4N and agreeing LM after the hand.
peachy
Echo others = seems you don't have LM on the card, you might want to add it. Without it, bid 4NT for a twosuiter. What I would never do is Dbl with this hand.
han
Fay plays leaping michaels, obvious 4C.
skjaeran
Add me to the LM chorus: 4♣
Cascade
Leaping Michaels can be problematic with an ambiguity. Especially when the ambiguity is about a major. I prefer for 4♣ to show a specific two suiter - either clubs and spade or club and hearts will do. Or alternatively for 4♣ to show hearts and another and 4♦ to show spades and another - Obviously one of these can be a specific two suiter. Choose hearts rather than spades because they are more pre-emptable, Nick
whereagles
Leaping Michaels can be problematic with an ambiguity. Especially when the ambiguity is about a major. I've been playing ambiguous leapng michaels and another ambiguous overcall (1m) 2NT = 5 other minor + 5 any major for 15 years now, including at international level. Never had any problem whatsoever due to the ambiguity. The reason I don't mind the ambiguity is it saves space and makes your life much easier in general. With the actual hand I'd try 5♣ and hope for the best.
