jdonn
It's not certain partner is short (0 or 1) in hearts, but it's extremely likely, and IF he is short in hearts then he must have 5 or more clubs. Therefore I would rather search for a club contract than defend, so I'll bid 3♥. I can not bid 3♣ as I play that to be a far weaker hand than this (ace of hearts less would be about average for me.) han
I like the defensive prospects in hearts with a forcing defense. Game isn't certain (This hand is not good for 3NT and we need a suitable hand from partner to make 5C) so any plus in 2HX may be good. Partner will not pass out 2H with shortness so I think it is safe to pass. If partner doubles I pass and (assuming they don't run to 2S) I lead the ace of clubs. P_Marlowe
Your options are Pass, awaiting the partners reopening doubleor 3C, assuming this showes an inv. hand.Given partner shortage, you know he has at least 4 clubs. Since 3C may or may not show an inv. hand, I would suggestyou go with double, that you hold only low spot cards getscompensated by the fact, that you have 5 hearts.Lead the Ace and see, if you have to switch. With kind regardsMarlowe
