Is this a known system ?

Recommended Posts

I played with a guy named devir_bg from bulgaria.

He insisted on playing that an opening of 1cl deny 5 card major and also denying 3 card clubs, i had 6 diamonds and 4 clubs and he wanted me to open 1 club with it.

We had a languege comunication problem and i couldnt understand if this is a known system, he insisted that if i will just think a little i will understand that its ovious that 1d should deny 3 clubs, unfortunetly i am not talented enough to see the logic behind this after a little thinking.

might have something to do with the name "fr bidding" which he keep saying when he made wired bids lol.

Hi Flame!

------

Unlike most of countries in bulgaria we play many different systems. Most of experienced players in my club played at least several systems like polish club, precision, french system ( i think your partner mean this system and the mistakes were because of language barrier). Most of them played in the past superprecision, romex and some strong pass system. What is common now in bulgaria between tournament players? Mainly 2 systems.

Natural system: 3+ minor, 5+ major, 1NT (15)-18, 2 str, 2 multi, 2/ 2 suiters

Precision: 1 16+, 1 0+, 1NT 15-17, 2 5+-4M/6+, 2 multi, 2/ 2 suiter, 2NT minors

We have also 2 bulgarian systems, invented around 40 years ago APATA(many of limited openings and bids) and FERS(transfer system, transfer overcalls) but really few of bulgarian players know and play them.

You might very well be correct Misho. The fact is very few bulgarians knows the correct versions. It is always the annoying private interpretations. Added to the language barrier it can sometimes be a hard job to play with bulgarians.

Funny - the romanians and the hungarians always knows the correct versions. Would be very nice to inform your countryfellows Misho. Then I am sure such problems like those Flame informs of will be rare in future.

Whatever, I had another idea, but if you start with such silly replies, you can ... (fill in yourself, so I don't get remarks from forum moderators)

:D

Free, i dont understand you.

You have this habbit of posting not to the point on my threads, i took it as a joke when you talked about the 4433 hand on an example i gave and stuff like that, but now i think its just that you dont give me any credit, i can live with it, since you dont know me, but i think i have the right to tell you that i wouldnt have post this if the system that he wanted to play was 2+c,4+d,5+M, i also gave an example that with 6 card diamond he asked me to open 1cl.

I hope this wont be deleted because its better to say things as they are.

These posts about the 4433's WERE posted to make some fun, but this one I meant as an answer. I however didn't notice the example with the 6s and 4s, so without that info I think my answer is still to the point. I don't know where you're from and what you already know from bridge, but I know that some people never heard of playing the system I suggested.

Anyway, I had another thought that he played something like "MAF". It's a Majors-5 system, and 1 promisses a 4 card M and 2+. With less than 2 s or any hand without a 4 card M you open 1. Perhaps he played something similar, but with 1 and 1 switched...

IF switched, you'd have to open 1 with 6-4 because you don't have a 4 card M.

Hope you get it and it's to the point. It's just coincidence imo that these not to the points were always against you. No hard feelings
