3 is a massive underbid, while 2NT and 3NT show completely different hands. 4 is a possible bid, pretending to have have 6 diamonds 4 hearts.

I think 3 is best though. If partner can bid 3 we can raise, if partner bids 3/3NT we can bid 4 or 5. The biggest problem with 3 is if partner has clubs, in which case you'd want to be in 3NT. However, 5 may still be ok.

3D, wtp.

3D is an underbid, I am even willing to agree that it

is a massive underbid , but it is still the best bid.

As they say, if you survive this round, you will

be in a good position.

We will only miss game, if partner is dead, in which

case game may well be better than 50%, but not by

a large degree.

With kind regards

Marlowe

I voted for 3. just like on the last hand like this that I posted as a problem.

But, once again, this is another hand for a forcing 3 rebid.

Bidding 3, for all, is a massive underbid.

Bidding 3, for someone, is correct, but I dislike bidding colours I don't have.

Bidding 2 "out of tempo" would be fine. Partner will surely find a way to interpose some bid other then 4 with a 45 majors...Okok...I was jocking... but...

Bidding 2 "in tempo" is unbeliavable. You can change it in incredible. And p is favorite to be 44 or 54 in M. What else we have?

I have no tools to bid this hand (after 1 opening), so I MUST be creative. And my choice is... 4. I understand this show 6 4, but I hope to make some jump to 6, just to show solid . If 4 this way is forbidden, I'll choose 4 (splinter), with same hope.

It's a little bet, hoping to find a useful suit in front. I know.

But I found best showing 9 correct card (on 10) that showing 1 correct card (on 4+ supposed, with 3).

Heck of a lot of 3 endorsements down here in text but not up there in the poll. LOL

I was a 3 voter (the first, actually), so I felt obligated to post down here because here is where the true 3 votes are being cast.

I hate 3 voters.

Give me your name and adress...

3 Club can and often will work in America and other places where people are used to fake jumps. I doubt that it will work here in Germany. At least I have never ever seen such an answer to the typical question in the bidding polls.

Why is 3 so bad?

You have 16-18 HCP, and a good 6+ card suit.

Is the danger that you miss slam? Game, which strain?

What would a bid of 4 (instead of 3) mean in this sequence, not ace asking I assume?

What will bidding 2 (reverse 17+ pard will expect 4 spades) or 3 (19 HCP for the jump shift, pard will expect 4 clubs) accomplish? You will tell pard you are strong, but what will aprd tell you that you want to know?

What do you want to know?

-Aces.

-King of hearts.

RKCBW 1430 could work out, though pard will think hearts are trum and may bid over your 6 if confused.

And if pard has 0 key cards you wont be so happy.

You probably dont wnat to be in NT with this ahnd.

How about 4?

Pard may pass with quacks and a diem void, but he probably has a bit more and will bid 5.

With a great hand (the black aces) he can cue bid.
