P_Marlowe
4D, Splinter. If partner bids 4S, I will give up, but can understand a 5D bid. With kind regardsMarlowe
Tcyk
4D, Splinter. If partner bids 4S, I will give up, but can understand a 5D bid. With kind regardsMarlowe I learned that double followed by a cue bid showed a hand that would have opened 2C forcing if given the chance. 2D seems to fit this requirement very well and your partner should not pass below game. Hopefully, you'll have room to ask about clubs. A jump to 4D takes up a lot of bidding room. Partner doesn't need much to make slam possible. The problem is, I am not sure that 2D setstrumps, but most likely I may be able todo this in a later round and still be able to show the shortage. But to be honest, I dont think that I will getpartner to cooperate below 4S, so I shoulddecide now, if I want to by pass 4S or not. gnasher
2♦, being insufficient, would be a poor way to elicit cooperation from partner. It's just possible that partner has enough for slam, so I bid 4♦. I'm not sure if that will be enough to make him bid 5♣ with QJx xx xxxx Kxxx, but it's the best I can do.
