rogerclee
If it wasn't ken I would assume the auction was entered incorrectly. 1S X p 2Dp 2H p 3C p p 3H p So, Partner passed after 1S X, then didnt bid over 2H either. LHO has doubled and bid hearts, showing a strong hand with heartsRHO has bid a new suit and made a forcing bid opposite partner's strong handLHO has passed RHOs forcing bidPartner has reopened with 3H? mike777
I agree how can lho show huge hand with hearts and rho show forcing hand with minors and now lho pass..... but ...oh well.......I do not think i can pass 3h.
gwnn
partner thought pass was 0-7 or 13+??
mr1303
I put down the dummy and tell partner not to make stupid bids.
vuroth
I'm figuring partner has 7+ hearts and a weak hand. He was trap passing over 2♥, but is now saving over the minor suit contract. I pass. Of course, it's also possible that partner is being a bit irrational. :)

Yes. This was the actual auction. No alerts. Everyone playing normal systems and normal stuff. I opened 1♠ and heard this unfold.
helene_t
P has a weak hand with seven hearts. Pass. Any other explanation would be even more absurd.
kenrexford
Pass wins. Partner actually held ♠-- ♥QJxxxxx ♦Q98x ♣Kx
jtfanclub
LHO has doubled and bid hearts, showing a strong hand with heartsRHO has bid a new suit and made a forcing bid opposite partner's strong hand I susepect they play that 2♥ says '♥+♣ or strong with ♥', and 3♣ says 'If you have the former, I wish to play in 3♣'. It seems reasonable to me as an ELC variant.
cherdano
Last hand, thanks all I have to go.
jdonn
Everyone playing normal systems and normal stuff. I disagree. Anyway, if my partner really does this at the table and the director makes me finish the hand, I bid 3♠.
kenrexford
Everyone playing normal systems and normal stuff. I disagree. Anyway, if my partner really does this at the table and the director makes me finish the hand, I bid 3♠. Well, true. LOL I suppose "normal stuff for local club games" is a better description of what was apparently going on. I ended up bidding 3NT, because that contract makes more tricks than it should more often than any other contract. The play was cool. I got a strange lead of the spade King, ducked. LHO thought for a minute and then switched to a diamond-9-10-K. I then stole a heart trick with the Jack. So far, so good. Clear the diamond: small-small-Jack-club. Diamond to RHO's Ace, LHO showing out and ditching another club. This is getting somewhat interesting, anyway. RHO returned to spades, ducked by both me and my LHO. I won the second one, as I figured that LHO held 5-4-1-3 shape and would now drop his J or 10 of clubs. When I sent a club toward dummy, he played the Jack, won in dummy. When I cashed the remaining diamond (ditching a spade) and played a club, LHO rose with the 10, ducked. He cashed the 13th diamond (pitch another spade) and had to lead away from his Qx of clubs into my A9, for down one. 4♥ had gone down one at the two tables reporting at this point. So, as you can see now, the sick layout was: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=shqjxxxxxdq98xckx&w=skq109xhak10xdxcjxx&e=s8xxhxda10xxxcq10xx&s=sajxxxhxdkjxca9xx]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] Yep. Probably a very common sequence...
