Two Questions About Tournamens on BBO

Two questions about tournaments on BBO.

Many of the tournaments are open only for members of private bridge clubs. I believe SBC and SATTO are examples. How do you find the web sites for the clubs so you can apply for membership?

Some of the tournaments on BBO specify "No Enemies." Just out of curiosity, what dies that mean or how does it work?

Thanks for replies.

Most of the clubs have instructions on their "doors" as to how to apply if they accepting new members etc. If you go to the list of private clubs and click on the club you are interested in, the notice will likely tell you what you need to know.

Alternatively, you can ask the TD of the tourneys for the info. If you are in tourney area 7 or 8 minutes before the start they will usually have time to answer a short question or two.

There are a number of ways to get onto an "enemy " list but the easiest (most common) way is to take off in the middle of a tourney . This causes a problem for TD's who have to look for subs, and the others at the table, who have to wait for a sub. A lot of the regular tourney TD's will share lists between clubs so a runner might soon find him/herself blacklisted from a number of tourneys if s/he has vanished from one.

How does it work? Not very well unfortunately.

Enemies are often able to signup for the tournament and could find themselves replaced when the tournament starts. An unsatisfactory situation for all involved.

Its common for 'enemies' to continue joining tournaments even after being asked by the TD not to join and being replaced if they do.

Agree with the previous posters, you will find yourself on an enemy list if you quit during a tournament, regardless of the reason as we cant tell if you have lost power or lost interest. The other sure way to be added an enemy is to be abusive, insulting to anyone.
