I think I would bid this:

1C-1S

2D-3C

3D-3S

4C-4D

4S-5D

5H-6C

3C=positive

3D/3S=control

4C=RKC

4D=4/1 of 5

4S=Kings?

5D=D King

5H=another K?

6C=No (Note that partner will probably bid 7C with a 4-card C and a doubleton D, Luckily that still is not hopeless)

Still CQ may 3times offside with a failed SK finesse. Serious handicap for 3NT and also 6 clubs.

6 needs nothing more than 2-1 or 1-2 clubs, or 3-0 or 0-3 clubs with both finesses. It's an 83% contract, and in practice even more since they might lead a diamond. Let's not lose sleep that you have found a way it could go down please!

Are we talking about this one?

In other words total 3 options required slam:

1- friendly trumps

2- 2 way finesse

3- working finesse[/hv]

Hopefully defenders are free to play their suit

In a good day why not?

3- working ♠ finesse

Those are the options you need for the grand slam.

In 6 you need either friendly trumps or the finesses (as was stated several times before).

I am quitting with the logic. Welcome to shubiville.

I got some impression that intention of my previous post in this thread has been misunderstood. Let me clarify:

As i stated : "I won't blame to N if he pass to 3NT."

For sure just test trumps, then employ spade finesse and pitch diamond loser.

Those three options might flash in North's mind "when decision moment appeared" whether to pass 3N or pull 6/7 etc. with such a minimum balanced holding without too much cover cards.

I do not think North knew South's shape well after :

1C>1S

2D>3C

3N

No-one has suggested an auction with that start to it.

(Not surprisingly, as having decided to reverse into diamonds and received news of club support, 3NT is an insane call on the next round)

"1C then 3NT "

"Can live with 1♣ - 1♠ - 3N or 1♣ - 1♠ - 2♦; I think I prefer the latter because this is a great dummy for a 6-2 spade (even a 5-2) spade fit.

Not my style to open 2♣ on a hand like this. "

This might sound rude, but...

If you don't understand the difference between the auctions

1 - 1

3N

and

1 - 1

2 - 3

3N

then you really need to rethink your posting style.

There's nothing wrong with beginners and intermediates asking questions in the Advanced/Expert lounge.

However, your posts combine "Snarky" and "Stupid". This is just asking for trouble.
