I will bid 2NT Lebensohl here. If partner bids 3, I will bid 3NT carrying the message over. If partner should break the 3 transfer, I would start thinking about 6 whatever ;)

3 for me too.

Passing might work, but if partner has a normal takeout double the opponents have a double fit in the majors, and they know about both 4-1 breaks, making the hand easy to play. I concede that even with all this, it is possible that 2X is in trouble.

But as long as 3 shows values, lebensohl style, we should get to a decent spot whether partner passes or bids again.

I think pass is nearly automatic for me. I won't play pard for what I need for game/slam. Additionally, this type of hand needs to defend and not declare - and it's a 4441 hand. Awkward.

defence to opps weak 2's --must have a system!!!!!!!!!!!

my reg pard and i would have no trouble--when opps open weak 2h/or 2sp.

pard would bid-his best minor -guarenteeing min 4 cards in other major if pard holds the minors and no major 2n/t overcall is minor orientated, and if pard just bids the other major its natural--ill explain if opps open 2diamonds later

so on the given hand 2hts (Weak) pard bids 3cl- you as responder ,nice bid pard ,bids 3hts (Cue Bid) 4d also cue bid (good clubs) no five card spade, check for aces ok--check for kings---6cl ok, but one shld be thinking grand slam in clubs

now over 2d openers x is take out, treat the 2 diamonds as a 1diam call,2n/t is a stopper in diamonds ,there fore stayman and transfers apply, 2h/2sp/3cl natural competing, have used this method some years i put it about 83%success

Whatever methods I play to show that I want to play in 3NT, that is what I do.

As for those of you who question where 9 tricks are coming from, didn't partner double? I could have sworn that shows a good hand.

On the actual hand, my action will no doubt lead to a club slam.

Passing out 2x at IMPs is just not rational. Most of the time you will make a game and not beat 2x enough to compensate you properly. If you do beat 2x 800 or more, you probably have a slam. And sometimes when you have a slam you will still not beat 2x more than 500.

And then there is that occasional hand where the opponents actually make 8 tricks in hearts.
