If partner bids 4S it might well make, if he bids 4N or 5C we can go to slam, if he bids 5D we should be a favorite to make that. If he passes we should beat them, probably several. That reminds me of when I first started playing and I went to my first youth championships having only played for a few months. I was lucky enough to be on a team with some experienced players and was partnering one of them for a round. We used written bidding for that comp and there was some long bidding sequence where I was waiting to double for penalty. I pressed so hard with my pen that it was very obvious to all it was a penalty double (even though the auction said so also), (we are in a room with 32 tables playing), partner got up from his chair, stood on the chair, and said loudly "I hear you partner" to much laughter.
