3for3
A friend of mine whose eyesight isn't great has a BBO problem. When she increases her font size, the task bar disappears, so she has to go back and forth on font to use it. Is there a way around this? fred
Hi Danny, When you say she is "increasing her font size" what do you mean? It sounds like she may be decreasing her screen resolution (which willl effectively increase the size of everything that appears on her monitor). If this is the case then she should know that decreasing her screen resolution below 800x600 (to 640x480 for example) is not a good idea as far as BBO is concerned. The Windows client requires a minimum of 800x600 resolution. Even reducing it to 800x600 could result in problems if the BBO program is running at the time she changes her resolution. If she wants to try this she should decrease her screen resolution before launching the BBO program. Changing settings within BBO itself (such as the size of the font that is used to display chat) should not have an impact on the appearance or disappearance of the taskbar. I am not sure what you mean by "taskbar" either, by the way, but this would be true regardless of whether you main the Windows "Start" bar or the row of buttons that appears at the bottom of the BBO window. You might want to suggest that your friend get a bigger monitor. If she goes shopping for monitors make sure that the one she buys will present a full screen display at 1024x768. This may sound like an extreme suggestion, but monitors have dropped a LOT in price during the past few years. Having a nice big screen will make all of the time your friend spends in front of her computer to be better, not just those hours she spends on BBO. If she continues to have problems, I suggest she tries sending an e-mail to: support@bridgebase.com Including a screenshot of what she is seeing when the taskbar is missing would be a big help to our support people. 3for3
Fred: Thanks for the input. She is decreasing the screen resolution. When she does this, the BBO screen is still all there, but the claim, chat and other buttons are just barely visible and are not usable. I have passed your suggestions on to her. DannyDanny, It sounds like there is something else on her screen that doesn't need to be there which is using up important vertical space that BBO needs. Possibly her Windows Start bar that is the problem - it could be too thick in the vertical direction. Also, Windows once had a setting called "large fonts" (or similar) that would result in the title bars of programs becoming thicker in the vertical direction. That would also cause the symptoms that your friend describes. It might also be the case that she has moved the position of the BBO window such that its top-left corner is not at the very top-left of her monitor. BBO is designed to fit perfectly on either a 1024x768 or 800x600 screen. If is doesn't fit properly, there is something weird about the configuration of the computer in question. If none of this helps, I strongly suggest that you stop trying to help your friend through Forums. Get her to e-mail support@bridgebase.com and ask her to send them a screenshot. If she doesn't know how to do that, our support staff will be able to provide instructions.
