karlson
I dunno. One partner always bids 1♠ with this. I guess I'm still a a passer.
rbforster
power X showing 15+, usually balanced. partner is encouraged to pass with diamonds and moderate values. wtp :P
rogerclee
power X showing 15+, usually balanced. partner is encouraged to pass with diamonds and moderate values. wtp :P Sorry I meant this as a question to people who play inferior normal bridge. Obviously your superior bidding methods were the key to this hand.
jdonn
I'll pass, hoping I can make a takeout double later and then raise partner a level to show my strength. If the opponents end up not even bidding hearts, then it's very likely partner is weak with long hearts and I probably won't be missing anything, though I could be. matmat
1NT is an option too. gah
Edmunte1
I prefer pass here
Apollo81
I'd bid 1♠ (oink) though I think pass and then doubling hearts at any believable level is fine too.
pclayton
This isn't good enough for a flawed power double Rob. Would you overcall 1N with this? I would pass. I have a lot better chance of describing my hand later than I do now, although there is no guarantee I can.
han
What, you can't make a power double with this? Why on earth would you play power doubles in the first place if you cannot double with this? (I'm seriously asking, I have never played them) I know the hand, when Roger asked me what I would do I grumblingly chose pass.
dake50
I'm with Rob F Power double. Mostly because other bids are freed up for distributional descriptions. That leaves D-Hxx+ likely/ common. Partner has xfer takeouts or penalty pass =many options for HIS fault for a bad result. Generally he has the burden of our partnership's judgment. effervesce
I'd double, rebidding NT over partner's probable heart bid. I'd prefer overcalling 1♠ to passing. The double doesn't seem as risky as it looks-if partner responds 1♥, you can rebid 1NT. If partner responds 2♥, you can rebid 2NT. It's only when partner bids 3♥ or 4♥ you can get screwed over. ASkolnick
I'm not sure how 1♠ could actually get you into trouble. You have enough values, a really good suit and if for some reason partner has the values for a 2H bid, you can always bid 2N.
