gwnn
1♣-p-1♦-X2♣-2♥-X and 1♣-p-1♦-X2♣-2♥-p-pX What are these doubles? Can you specify an example hand or two?
gnasher
The first one is for penalties. There is no point in playing non-penalty doubles opposite a well-defined one-suiter. Axx KQJ9 Axxxx x would be nice. The second one, if it exists at all, shows a hand that wants to bid 3♣, but is giving partner the option of defending. Perhaps KQx Kxx x AJ10xxx.
