maggieb
Hi, At IMP scoring (NV all), you hold: ♠x♥AKQxxx♦xx♣KJTx And the bidding goes (you deal): 1♥ 1♠ 2♥ 3♥4♥ 4♠ P P? Would you bid again?
Lobowolf
If I took over the auction here, I probably would; if it were my hand in the first place, I'd have bid 4♣ rather than 4♥ in the hopes that partner would be better placed to know what to do over 4♠. pclayton
I would have bid 4♣ over 3♥. It identifies where your cards are and helps pard make a decision over 4♠. Not having done that (and some here will disagree with 4♣), I'm a little stuck. Pard will not know if we are bidding 4♥ to make, or something cheap, or just 'one more'. I would not expect pard to double 4♠ with say the ♣A and the ♦K for instance. I would probably pass 4♠, since I don't think we are coming close to making 5♥. On a bad day it will go for 500 which shows no profit against 4♠.
jdonn
I very strongly agree with 4♣ over 3♥. As it is I am on a total guess, 5♥ could have play to make or could be an expensive phantom. I will guess pass.
louisg
Do the people who advocate a 4C bid last round think that it creates a forcing auction?

I think RS says 4♣ creates a force through 4♠.
gnasher
Do the people who advocate a 4C bid last round think that it creates a forcing auction? I don't think it should, because there isn't much benefit to playing it that way. If I wanted to show clubs and force a decision from partner, I could bid 4♣ and then double 4♠. I could also set up a forcing pass without showing a side suit, by bidding 3♠ over 3♥. Edited October 16, 2008 by gnasher
Cascade
Do the people who advocate a 4C bid last round think that it creates a forcing auction? No I play this simply to help partner make a good decision at the five-level in the anticipated competition.

dake50
Could partner define his raise: with 1+DT vs. purely fit values. My partner would distinguish a pure offense 2S raise from a support X type raise with a defensive trick. Thus 2S has no defense, nor do I. 5H and hope I haven't given them a second chance to find 6S. Agree, it seems best to play it as non-forcing.
