tendenz
i'm very sad about the new prizes on 5$ bbo tourney. Who decides this change? Before this change there were more players! I spoke also with other members and they totally agree with me! Waiting for a new/old change! Tendenz :D
el tombo
I haven't played in one before but I agree with what you are saying, what annoyed me about the $1 robot races were the prizes below $1. I had $3 left and I wanted to see how long I could keep going but I was annoyed when I got $0.90 as a prize for one tourney. What good is that? How do I enter a tourney withh $0.90? I think that the old way was better.
Codo
Is April the 1.? 1. The 5 $ Tourneys are extra, there are still much more 1 $ toruneys. 2. Maybe you can try to win 0,60 $ in the next tourney and 1,50 $ in the following?
fred
We changed the prize structure in both $5 and $1 MBTs so that a higher % of participants in each tournament would win *some* prize. We did this by awarding smaller prizes to the highest finishers. We expected that this change would be unpopular among the relatively small group of players who consistently finish near the top of the rankings, but that it would be popular among the much larger group of players who tend to finish close to the middle of the pack. It is entirely possible that we misjudged - it is not exactly easy to make predictions about such things. Thanks to the posters so far who have expressed their opinions. It would be great to hear some more viewpoints from other MBT regulars. The number of people playing in the $5 tournaments has indeed declined, but I am guessing that there are 2 other reasons for this that are more significant than the recent changes to the prize structure: 1) The recent introduction of "best hand" in the $1 games (before only the $5 games used this format which most players seem to think makes MBTs more fun and more fair). 2) The recent economic uncertainty is causing some people to be more careful about spending money. Again I am only guessing and I might well be completely wrong. Feedback from MBT regulars would certainly be welcome. jdonn
It is entirely possible that we misjudged - it is not exactly easy to make predictions about such things. Thanks to the posters so far who have expressed their opinions. It would be great to hear some more viewpoints from other MBT regulars. I have gotten really into these in the past couple weeks. My take is that I don't mind offering more (and therefore smaller) prizes to make more people happy, but I think it's really a mistake to give prizes that are less than the entry fee. I just think of someone using their last dollar to play and winning 80 cents, but not being able to do anything with it so it's as though they won nothing. barmar
Anyone using their last dollar to play MBT has more problems than the MBT award structure. Then again, the way the market is these days, investing in your MBT skills may be better than putting money in a bank.
