The Bidding:

West...North...East... South

1D*....Pass.....1H......1S

2C**..2D........2S......Pass

3C......Pass.....3H......Pass

?

* Precision

** Can be 5-4

The question is if 3H is forcing in this sequence?

West elected to pass on this hand.

Hi,

What was 2D, what was 2S?

Not playing Precision, but 3H certainly sounds forcing,

an inv. hand with 6 hearts, could have been bid 3H

direct without going via the cue.

With kind regards

Marlowe

According to me, 2D was a suit because 1D in Precision does not necessarily promise diamonds. 2S was asking for a spade stop. After the 3H (forcing), opener can now still bid 3NT with no tolerance for hearts - already denied a spade stop by bidding 3C. This leaves it to responder to decide the contract. Anyway, 3NT was the better contract.

I agree with everybody, except I'm not sure 2 created a GF. I would tend to think opener's 2NT rebid is NF and maybe 3m also (i.e. responder would like to compete in something but is not sure what minors opener has).

This argument is fine, ... if you had bid direct 2D over 1D,

but after 2C, which was alerted as 5-4 in the minors, you are

bidding their suit, which could even be a 5 carder.

If this is natural or not is up to you, but for me bidding

their suit is always artificial, unless I have specifically

discussed it.

I think that 2 initially does not create a game force. But, I think what everybody is saying that bidding 3 after the 2 created a GF.
