Pass. It's right on values, and the fact that partner could (should) have raised with most of the unbalanced hands that contain 3 spades goes a long way toward mitigating my "But I have 9 cards in the majors!" whine.

If 2 Heart is forcing, this is an easy pass.

Luckily it is common to play 2 Heart as non forcing (7-9) here. So I have no problems to bid it. It is still borderline, but majors rules, so I give it a try.

Agree.

In most expert system, 2 100% RF. But for SAYC - 2 is merely patterning out - is it not? What is taught to beginners, is that a new suit below your first suit is NF, if not FSF. At least in Norway this is common practice.

I would say, standard is that 2H is RF, but

if you move up the ladder 2H will become

nonforcing, ... because you need add.

convention to make playing 2H as

nonforcing playable.

Of course it may be, that the new expert

thinking is, that playing 2H as forcing is better.

With kind regards

Marlowe

No 2 is forcing in SAYC.

I play that 2 is nonforcing (2 is artificial and forcing) so this is an easy 2 for me.

In SAYC, 2 would be forcing, so you can't afford to bid 2 - you are endplayed into a pass.

Of course if you play that 2H is forcing then there is nothing to talk about so let's assume it is not.

I would bid 2H at matchpoints but pass at IMPs.

Interesting. I like pass a lot better at MPs since we will stay low and I might attract a balance. I like 2 a lot better at IMPs since it will help us find a cheap game in a major.

I really like Reverse Flannery and this hand is a good example why.
