kgr
1S-2H4CItalians had this bidding and according to vugraph presenter 4C showed a void.I asked how do splinter with a singleton and he responded that they can't show that. That was surprising to me because I would think that singleton happens much more often then void. (...maybe it is easier for them to show the void later.?) skjaeran
For me this splinter shows a void, as does 1M-4m, 1m-3M etc.
jdonn
For me this splinter shows a void, as does 1M-4m, 1m-3M etc. But do you have another way to show a singleton? If so then I'm sure it all works very well, but if not then I wouldn't want to give up the singleton in exchange for the far more rare void. cherdano
I play it as showing a singleton. When you see the Italians let them know they can have the notes if they wonder how this works.
Flameous
I actually thought this one too when it happened. For me this shows singleton or void or sometimes even singleton honor. This is mostly because 2♥ over 1♠ takes away so much space that there's no chance to have different sequences to show void. After 1♥ and 1♠ I have 3♠ and 3NT to show void splinters respectively. In 1♥ - 1 ♠ sequences I have Gazilli available so there are ways to show everything you can possibly imagine in hand. Except that one time when I had 5611 and couldn't splinter in both minors :)

Yes, I do have other methods to show a singleton, directly or later, depending on strength. Not always, but most of the time.
