jdonn
I pass, planning to bid later of course. The problem with opening is I think we are too likely to get to a stupid 3NT.
pclayton
Pass. I may have an easier time describing this later.
gnasher
Your system certainly makes a difference: the wider the range of your responses, the narrower should be the range of your openings. Playing 2/1 you'd need to add J10 to one of the suits before I'd open it. Playing Acol, I might open this but would prefer another ten. Playing Precision I would definitely open. TylerE
I pass, planning to bid later of course. The problem with opening is I think we are too likely to get to a stupid 3NT. Which is exactly what happened at our table.
dicklont
2♠ Muiderberg.Weak, five spades and 4+ in a minor. This is obviously a maximum.
NickRW
Well had I played in this tourney playing the sort of system I guess you all were, I think I might have passed it for exactly the reason Josh gives. I just might have felt whimsical and opened a weak 2 - but probably not. Playing my pet Acol variant this is an easy 1♠ opener - I'd open it without the ♠J as well. I consider it too strong for a Dutch or Polish 2♠ myself - though 2♠ might cross my mind without the jack. Nick
rogerclee
I pass unless I am playing with Han, in which case I have extras.
the hog
Playing with reg pd I have 2 suited bids available, so I open of course. Without this agreement you have to pass, else it is too easy to get overboard.

(1♠) pass (2♣) pass(pass) ?? As I sat there looking at my 7 spades to the KQ and this bidding, I was not thinking nice thoughts about Mr Casaba! The undo request was actually a relief to see. And the silly 3N down 3 was still worth 75% to THEM!
skjaeran
I'm a light opener, but this one is an easy pass.We should have no trouble getting into the auction later, and avoid a stupid 3NT (for example), as Josh comments above. gwnn
BTW I really think 1♠ was undisciplined.
P_Marlowe
Pass. You have to have a line in the sand, you dontcross, and this hand is on the other side. And crossing the line has nothing to do with judgement. I am pretty sure, you should not open 1S in1st or 2nd, if you happen to play 2/1, so it doesmatter, which system you are playing. With kind regardsMarlowe
Codo
I would pass, but I swear that you don't get any opportunity to get into the auction later. At least not at our table, where partner found the worst bid... :)

han
I pass unless I am playing with Han, in which case I have extras. When Roger is back from China I'll point out to him that I would certainly pass with this hand.
