nickf
RHO deals and opens 1D in some Polish Club variant system which is 10-12 balanced. You hold [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sakxxhqxxdkxxxcqx]133|100|Scoring: Swiss Pairs[/hv]. Your call? nickfsydney
gwnn
1♦ guarantees 10-12 bal? If so, this is an easy double, promising values and focusing on the majors. If it can have diamond length also (like 6 diamonds in an unbalanced hand), then it's not so easy. I don't like doubling with 4 in their possible suit, so I'd pass, but maybe double is better... the hog
Easy 1S bid Nick, regardless of the meaning of 1D. Whose PC variant was it? Bilski?

Tcyk
I have never been afraid to pass with a hand unsuitable for an overcall or a double. After all, I do have a partner. If the hand belongs to the opponents it is probably better that my strength is hidden. Otherwise, I will most likely get a second chance to bid. If the auction goes 1D-1NT, Pass I may suffer but would live with my original decision to pass. If my partner bids, I will try to show the balanced opening hand.
