OK, passing looks attractive. Let's change the hand slightly, removing the club King. Now what?

Picture a typical hand for partner: no 3rd spade, 4 diamonds of at least HHxx and six clubs. I doubt dead minimum 2 calls are that hungry to redouble.

x xx ATxx AKJxxx. I think I like my chances in 2. A heart lead is probably the worst, but I should be able to take 1, 2, 2, 2 and either a 2nd spade or a 3rd diamond.

x Qx KTxx AKxxxx and overtricks come into being.

Was Ken the redoubler?

If so, then my concern would be that whatever he holds it will NOT include HHxx in diamonds  After all, that is the holding we'd all expect him to have.

If it were anyone else, pass seems obvious.

As it is, I await clarification as to how the redouble was intended.

I redoubled. I thought this was 100% penalty, obviously, but partner was not sure what it meant, thinking that a possible meaning was some sort of delayed support double or showing hearts or something like that. This was a sanity check, coupled with the question of whether Jx was "just enough" to sit back and take in the reward.
