JRG
You may want to start a separate forum for discussion on this topic (this is not "Bridge Base Online Discussion"). I don't find "View the 10 most recent posts of this forum" does what I'm after. I really like to browse most of the posts, but I would prefer to see only what is new since I last logged in and checked (or, equivalently, be able to see only "unread" posts). If YaBB doesn't have this kind of feature built in, I suspect it might be difficult, but here's hoping. For people who do use the "View the 10...", is it possible to have the corresponding threads marked as "read"? (i.e. so they show up in the light blue instead of green). Is there any kind of a digest facility (i.e. e-mails with the all the new posts for the day)? This is a nice feature of the Yahoo forum, especially for those of us with slow-speed Internet access. skrshawk
Hello,I hate to be such a nay-sayer but a lot of the things you've mentioned are out of the realm of immediate possibility. I am paying close attention to the work being done on YaBB v2 and am hoping that it will rectify many of the issues you've mentioned. I don't have a problem using the last 10 feature to browse the forums, mostly because I remember what I've read recently :). For those that can't, it would seem more difficult. The markings come from standard HTML and CSS code that if you've visited a link it turns it that color. The "new" graphic next to a topic is a better indicator as to what you've read and haven't. Without getting into a lengthy discussion about preferences, forums are quite different from email lists. In some ways it's almost a totally different product. It was a judgment call we had to make and installing our own Majordomo server and running the forums as a series of email lists was considered. In the end we felt we could better address our audience by means of a web-based service. The notifications feature will help you keep track of topics you're particulary interested in by email however. I wish I could be of more help on this, but this is the state we're in. Take care,John
