I'm not normally into un-scientific bidding, but to me, this hand merits an exception. Slam might easily depend on the lead, and even though 7♣ is not that far away, I still believe the percentage action is to blast to 6♣.

 

If my opponents are prone to second-guess me, and not lead a spade, I'll bid the suggested 4♠. I cannot be to strong for that.

Why are we blasting here? Are we sure that pard doesn't have a little spade duplication?

 

I'm starting with 3♦. If pard bid 3N I'm passing. This seems like a more rational contract when pard holds AQx xxx x AQxxxx.

5♣ seems a bit much on this misfit auction, but I think it pays to bid there (via the 4♠ splinter so pard can double them if they bid 5♠.) I'm not expecting to make 5♣ a lot of the time, but it pays to be in vulnerable games and there's a chance they bid on as well.

 

I don't really want to play 3Nt because I think it might be a bit of a cross-ruff hand.

I don't mean that we don't have a fit, I mean that outside of our primary fit, our side-suit values are not fitting well.

I would bid 3♠ here; show a v good hand, part still can bid 3NT with 2 stops in ♠. If he have values in ♠, no way for try slam in ♣ and even 5♣ can be v hard. If he dont have values in ♠, still we have some time to investigate slam, or, at least, to play 5♣

I bid 3S, LHO bid 4S, back round to me and I took a swing at 6C, X -2.

However the opponents could make 6S - so a lucky escape in a way (it's the hand that MickyB posted before.

So we are off 2 heart tricks only, and 6♣x would be down one except for the opponent's diamond ruff.

 

I suppose some would bid 2♣ on these cards, but I would bid 3♣. There may even be some maniacs out there who would bid higher.
