ahri
After some nice auction... 1♠ - 1NT2♣*- 3♣**5♣ (2♣=nat or various 16+ hands, 3♣=5-7 with 5+ clubs) .. it's your job to safely land this contract: ♠ xx♥ Jxx♦ xxx♣ KQ8xx ♠ AQxxx♥ AQxx♦ -♣ A9xx Defenders are experts and west, after some thought, leads J♣. What's your plan? :)
Hanoi5
I'd win in dummy and play ♠A and another ♠. I plan to finesse hearts and establish another spade trick.
kenrexford
I think I'd win and then play a small spade, retaining the Ace.
pclayton
Safely land this? There's beaucoup handling and communication problems with a trump lead. I don't see a lot of problem with winning in dummy and hooking the spade. Its no lock that West has the spades based on the lead. I also don't commit myself to the heart finesse in case spades are 3-3. Playing spades early makes entries more fluid whether or not the spade hook wins or loses. If I could conveniently play ♠A, enter the board, and play up to the Queen, this would be an option, but I'm not wasting a trump entry for this.
