Ok make that questions. So I'm lazy, sue me.

 

1) Who is it that puts out those awards every year for best played, defended, and bid hand? IBPM or something like that?

2) How are hands submitted?

3) Is there a book or website or something where you can find the yearly winners and/or finalists?

2) I think the journalist who writes the hand up submits it, but not sure

3) No idea, I'm afraid. There's an IBPA website <www.ibpa.com>, which ought to have it, but doesn't (or at least I couldn't find it)

 

I'll ask someone who should know.

Ok cool. I'm most interested in seeing the actual hands, I already found a list of who the winners are.

what you need is the back catalogue of the IBPA monthly bulletins. Each about 24 pages with wall-to-wall hands.

 

Do yourself a favour - when you're in Beijing, go to the Press Office and join the IBPA. Say you write for the local district newsletter yada yada. It will also give you on-site access to the IPBA office, not that finding an internet connection or i-cafe in Beijing will be hard.

 

Once you're a member, I think you get a password that gives you access to the IPBA website secret stuff like all their old bulletins.

The IBPA has a handbook with a lot of past awards information. If you google IBPA Handbook, as a PDF document, I think you get it.
