The Dow will scrape the 10,000 mark before righting itself and continuing in the Obama presidency on its usual upward trend. It should be back to 15,000 by 2012 when,according to popular sentiment, all bets are off.... :(

Funny as a crutch.

 

Try to restrain your smileys to a minimum. Do you think its funny that millions of people are losing a big chunk of their retirement due to this market? Do you find it humorous that the Bush Administration is requesting 'new powers to stem this crisis (the thought of "Bush" and "New Powers" makes my skin crawl).

 

Yes, there's some nice opportunities for those that hoarded cash, but try to behave.

Just over a year ago, I shifted most of my nestegg into stock neutral vehicles. Over the slide I have lost about 2% of my total value. In the interim I have been picking up "target" stocks that had bottomed out (to my expectation of their minima) and had become solid buys.

 

Granted, inaccessible pension plans (mine are private and self-directed and in 3 different financial institutions (one of each variety, just in case)) do not afford this danger (the more I play the more I stand to lose) they are supposed to be run by competent money managers with prudence as their watchword.

 

Any lesson that doesnt cost you is worth what you pay for it.

 

It is not too late to stop the insanity, but it will take a significant push to the political will of certain candidates to get them to buck the trend. Appeasement and lack of sacrifice lead to trouble. You guys should be kicking your reps butts to get them to safeguard your values and valuables.
