gwnn
You have T9x in hand and J876 in dummy at a suit contract, you have many trumps. You need two losers in the suit, unfortunately. What's the best way you may try to crash their honors?
Ant590
I'd probably play small to hand twice
Hanoi5
Small to hand and then it's time to decide: a. if on the first trick RHO raised with an honor (with some thinking), then small to hand again.b. if on the first trick LHO won, I think I'll play RHO to have doubleton honor and then play towards dummy the second time. Why do I need to lose only 2 tricks? It's mean to bid like that against noobs.
Free
Small to the T. Then run the J

ArcLight
I am really ignorant, what are noobs? Am I one? Only if you have to ask! :( noob = newbie (inexperienced player) Just teasing JoAnne
JoAnneM
Seems like if you have plenty of entries that leading the jack from dummy might entice RHO to cover, and then if LHO opp has doubleton AK you are in clover. You are talking about "noobs", right?

Er - don't strain so much against noobs - sounds like you're in an unsound contract and you don't need to be. Nick
ArtK78
I suppose you have never been in an unsound contract. On the hand in question (from a BBO pair game last night), I put my partner in a 4♥. He was off a club trick and had this diamond holding. If I remember correctly, the diamonds were actually 3-3. Nevertheless, he stripped the hand as best that he could before leading a diamond from his hand - the T9x holding. For whatever reason, his LHO won the Q, cashed the Ace, and proceeded to play a spade, presenting my partner with a ruff-sluff for the contract. I cannot explain why this happened, but it happened. Nick The fact that there are TWO comments like this in this thread is absolutely mind boggling to me. How do you criticize his bidding without knowing ANYTHING about the HANDS or the AUCTION?!!?!?! MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THEY BID COMPLETELY NORMALLY, AND DID NOT LAND IN THE BEST DOUBLE DUMMY CONTRACT!!! THIS HAPPENS SOMETIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVEN TO VERY GOOD PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

han
My answer to the question: Strip the side suits and play low to hand. You win anytime somebody has HH tight or a stiff honor, as well as when RHO doesn't unblock with Hx, or splits with HHxx.

JoAnneM
Wow. One can't make a tongue in cheek comment. Geez In order to make a tongue in cheek comment one must show a picture of a tongue in a cheek. This is what I was told a few months ago when I committed a similar sin.
