P_Marlowe
t/o, reopening. You may also call it competitive, because whatelse would competitive mean? With kind regardsMarlowe
Flameous
45 in black suits. Obviously 22 reds. Not good enough spades to overcall on one level and not good enough hand to bid clubs. Wanted to defend 1NT. KJxxxxxxKQTxx Something along those lines...
Sambolino
no way its 44+ in blacks. it is t/o but with long diamonds knowing p got shortness and few hcps; tolerates hearts too

It's takeout for me - too weak for an initial takeout double, but wants to compete. Eg QJxx Qxxx x Kxxx will do.
mcphee
It makes no sense this can be a penalty dble. I dare say if there was any hand that was going to bury 2D they will now play 2H. T/O lets find our fit partner, the less shape the t/o dble has the better the hand. A 4-2-3-4 would be at least close to opening values 11 or more. 4-2-2-5 I would not expect a lot for dbl. 8+ so to me this dble can be quite a range but it is really balancing. georgi
for me should be penalty. If you doesn't have hand to intervene first time after 1D, why you have to to suggest to your partner that you have part-score game on second even third level? matmat
sure, but here our next chance to double after not doubling 1♦ was after 1d - p - 1h - p 1N - ?
kfay
Takeout. I try not to pull out these doubles in real life that flummox partner.
MarkDean
I need the "what the heck are you doing to me partner" option in the poll. Could have doubled for takeout on round 1, for penalty on round 2. I would guess light takeout.
CSGibson
takeout, balancing. Nothing special going on, just a belief that letting them play 2 diamonds is wrong.
