Hanoi5
[hv=d=w&v=b&s=s7xxxhjtxda9xcatx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Bidding goes: 3♣ X Pass ??? What would your partner's 4♣ mean (instead of double)? What would you bid if your partner bids 4♠ over your 3NT?
han
I bid 3NT. 4C would show the majors for me. Over 4S I will cue 5C.
1eyedjack
I bid 3NT. 4C would show the majors for me. Over 4S I will cue 5C. What if p rebids 4H?Not a lot of difference I feel.
jtfanclub
I would take X followed by 4♠ as both majors (♠>♥) not strong enough for an immediate 4♣. I don't consider this to be a great hand, and after 3NT, I would pass 4♠, and bid 4♠ over 4♦ or 4♥. If partner bids 4♣, then we're off to the races. pclayton
3N is beyond obvious.
MFA
I bid 3NT. 4C would show the majors for me. Over 4S I will cue 5C.Agree. I like to play over 3♣:4♣= strong 5-5 majors4♦= marginal 5-5 majors. The point of this is, of course, that 5-5 majors hands are so anxious to get the suits in that they would want to bid on quite small values. han
But then you don't have a bid for diamonds+major?
