Califdude
This topic has been touched on before, per my search, but I thought I would give a few more situations and ask your opinion. In session yesterday a random partner and I were rolling along with positive IMP's almost every hand until a misunderstanding and disaster from an unusual no trump bid broke us up. Don't want that to happen again. Which are unusual no trump showing 10 or 11 cards two suiter: Where no trump bidder has never passed:1. 1S-P-2D-2NT 2. 1S-P-2S-2NT 3. 2S-P-P-2NT 4. 2C-2NT 5. 2C-P-2H-2NT Where no trump bidder has passed: 6. P-1D-P-2D 2NT 7. 1C-P-2C-P P-2NT I assume that in the balancing seat a no trump bid is natural so have not given any examples of this. Thank you for your replies and forbearance if this belongs in another section. :)
Guest Jlall
3 is natural, 7 does not exist, and the others are unusual.
cherdano
3 is natural, 7 does not exist, and the others are unusual. Let me add that 2N in 2. shows any 2 suits (unlike (1S) 2N which shows the minors).
OleBerg
7 does not existTend to agree. However, if partner sprung it on me, I'd expect something like: ♠x♥Axxxx♦8765432♣x
helene_t
What the others say but what would 6 be? My first thought was 4M6♣.
andy_h
is there any case for (1M)-p-(2M)-2NT as natural with people nowadays that tend to open light and raise light? I understand that some would highly prefer (1M)-p-(2M)-4m as a preempt therefore putting the 2NT as any 2-suiters, but if you bid 2NT the opponents may raise etc and you may not know where your fit is? I don't really know what's more frequent, and I'm guessing it's a style thing?

Bridge world, dec. 07 MSC problem G is an example of a natural 2NT. The Bridge World Standard (BWS) in this sequence is 2NT natural. If I sat down with a random expert, I'd surely expect 2NT to be unusual, however.
skjaeran
3 is natural, 7 does not exist, and the others are unusual. I play 2 as natural. Else agree with Justin.
pclayton
Agree with Justin and Arend. Surely there are other sequences more debatable, esp for the A/E section.
