awm
Here is an interesting hand from a recent sectional: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skj7xhqjtdq9xxcaj&w=saxhaxxxdkt8xxcxx&e=sqt98xh98d7xck9xx&s=sxxhk7xxdajcqt87x]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The contract was 3NT by south. A low diamond was lead, riding to south's jack. South then continued with a club to the ace and the club jack, taken by east's king (perhaps not best). East played another diamond to south's ace. Here is the position: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skj7xhqjtdq9xxcaj&w=saxhaxxxdkt8xxcxx&e=sqt98xh98d7xck9xx&s=sxxhk7xxdajcqt87x]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] South now cashes three clubs. If west pitches two diamonds then it is easy to make by leading a spade up to the king. If west pitches one card from each suit, then declarer pitches dummy's spade jack and starts the hearts, forcing west to either take the heart ace early (allowing south to overtake the third heart and cash the seven) or delay to the third round and endplay himself in diamonds. If west pitches two hearts and a spade, then dummy bares the spade king and declarer attacks hearts, enabling himself to overtake the third heart and cash the making trick. If west pitches two hearts and a diamond, then declarer can make by pitching a heart from dummy and leading up to the spade king, then attacking hearts. What do you call this squeeze? matmat
What do you call this squeeze? Complicated? Seems like you could probably categorize the squeeze more readily if you focus on the very last pitch?
benlessard
Squeeze without the count.
MFA
A non-material trippel squeeze.Non-material because west is not forced to discard tricks but crucial flexibility. Trippel because it happens to him in three suits at a time. :) Just a guess.
