Echognome
I think with Jxxx, I'm going to bid 3♠. It's pretty rare to not want to show a 4cM, but I think this is a hand for it. If partner bids 3NT, I may be sad, but this is certainly the easiest way to show how good my support is.
jdonn
Double, wtp? It's even easier with support since if partner doesn't support you next, you support partner.
OleBerg
Easy raise. I always raise with two aces... wait, thats another game. If partners 1♦ bid shows 4+ diamonds I raise. If partner has four hearts, opps. might be in 4♠ in a second, and then it wont matter which red suit we compete in. If they bid only 3♠, we can back in with 4♥. (Partner is bound to understand it. ) If partner shows only 3 diamonds, I double.

P_Marlowe
X. Looking for a major suit fit. I am not commiting the hand to diamonds yet,if I would, I guess the alternative is either 2S or 3S, I would choose 3S. With kind regardsMarlowe
Echognome
Like I said, I then support partner. Wouldn't you think 5♦ was making? Might even be a good save instead. Absolutely. And I do think double is definitely the "book bid" and with anything more in ♥ I would make the call. I am advocating the minority position and just trying to come up with reasons why I think it's sensible. I can certainly see 3♠ going terribly wrong (like when partner has 4♥!). kenrexford
Double or raise?!? Double or splinter is a debate.
pclayton
Double. Opposite a weak NT with 4 hearts this is the only rational way to find our 4-4.

fred
Today's off topic bidding idea: Don't play 3S as a splinter. Play it as a transfer to 3NT. It works! Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com

Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com What sort of hands do you bid that on? Is this transfer always 3♠ or is it the opponent's suit? Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com I'd be worried about attracting a double by overcaller's pard. Still, I love playing NT with the strong stopper on the table. I'll watch out for opportunities.
peachy
Double. I would do it with xxxx hearts too. The diamond fit is a nice landing spot if we don't have a 4-4 heart fit.
Guest Jlall
Double. Also agree with 3 of their suit as a transfer to 3N, you so often have something like Axx or Kxx etc that wants partner's hand to play it, or maybe you have a weak side suit that LHO is way more likely to find the lead of than RHO or that partner has a stopper in that needs to be protected. Even AQx you really want partner to play it. If you play this convention imo you should be bidding 3S wayyyyy more often than 3N imo.
