Al_U_Card
So, the latest NHC advisory has a category 3 hurricane bearing down on Katrina's left-overs. What are the chances? http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at2.shtml?5day#contents Drove my chevy to the levee but the levee was gone?
luke warm
should be ok unless bush/cheney have the levees blown up again (like they did the WTC)
Al_U_Card
Ever since he was named Commander-in-chief of the Army Corps of engi-sneers, that Cheney is quite the Dick. As Bush was busy re-writing the history books, he took time to change the lyrics too...."drove my Cheney to the levee then the levees were gone..." :)
Al_U_Card
The wrath of God appears to be mitigated by the reverence of the good people of N.O. :) Despite being in the right quadrant of Gustav, if the storm doesn't get worse than category 3 then they will only have another Katrina....phew! Right now it is bearing down on the mouth of the Mississippi, ... and Hanna is taking almost the same path that Katrina took in 2005. Remains to be seen if it will cross Florida or rise up the East coast. Any bets?
pclayton
I hope Jimmy is OK. So youre the federal government and just wrote a large check to help clean up Nawlins (total $80 BB - but this includes insurance proceeds too and non-government sources) in the aftermath of Katrina. This time around, what do you do? Do you rebuild a City a second time in three years that has flooding problems that are nearly impossible to mitigate? Al_U_Card
http://www.hurricanetrack.com/ A site where you can get good info from all kinds of sources, including their live storm-cams and meteorological installations. A nice vid of the first rainband arriving. Small towns have been moved, lock, stock and barrel when dams were built. Would be a heck of a project to move the whole city... brianshark
New Orleans was always going to be another disaster waiting to happen. They should never have let the people try to resettle that spot after Katrina, but I guess when people call somewhere home, it can be hard to shift them.
