Flameous
Club night, MPs. You pick up this monster red vs. white. AKQ KJ A KQJ10xxx P - P - 3♥ - ? What's your plan? How about after 1♥?

cherdano
Over 3♥, I just bid 5♣.
the hog
Arend's 5C may well be right, but will pd bid 6 with a rounded ace and out? I think not. I am bidding 6.

Hmm, actually I change my mind. If partner doesn't have an ace, I don't make 5 either, so bidding 5 seems rather pointless. 6♣.

Your opps lead REALLY well and your partners suck at having 3 clubs or the 9 of clubs or a stiff heart etc...

CSGibson
double, then 4NT over partner's spade bid, 5 clubs over partner's diamond bid (if playing 0314, that is. different solution playing 1430.
nige1
Club night, MPs. You pick up this monster red vs. white.AKQ KJ A KQJ10xxxP - P - 3♥ - ? What's your plan? How about after 1♥?IMO, over both 1♥ and 3♥, you should _X, then cuebid ♥ if convenient. Otherwise, bid 5♣. 4N if Blackwood would be even better; but without agreement, partner will probably treat it as minors.....I've just read CSGibson's answer, and I like that idea better than mine (above) Double then bid 4N (3041 RKCB) provided partner Expects me to improvise this way. Doesn't decide to treat a ♣ void as a useful Ace :)
pclayton
6♣. The "one useful card" theory (Thanks Fred).
Flameous
So you are not afraid partner might pass the X? I'll tell what happened in our table. I was the 3♥ opener. Afterwards came4♥ - P - 4♠ - P - 4NT - P - 5♦ - P -6♣ - P - 6♠ - P -6NT - AP Other table harder time... P - P - 2♥ - X - 5♥ - P - P - ? 6C While one table had easy time and still failed... P - P - 1♥ - X - P - 1♠ - P - 5♣ -AP P had ace of clubs and 6NT was laydown. Only our opps found it. Many in 6C

Guest Jlall
FWIW I like double to start with, we may learn something useful. I will likely just end up bidding 5C if partner doesn't show excitement and I don't have keycard available.
Cascade
Is 4NT Blackwood? It is for me. We play 4♥ for the minors and 4♣/♦ for major/minor two-suiters. So this hand is perfect I bid 4NT and pass 5♣ and bid 6♣ or 7NT over one or two aces.
P_Marlowe
X, followed by 5C. After 3H, it depends a little on method, do you play4C as 2-suiter or not, but I guess, even if not, the hand is too strong for 5C (or 3NT, and 3NT may be down, if partner does not show up with the Ace of clubs). Similar after 1H. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: Missed the point, that partner is a passed hand, but thisdoes not change my bids, although slam got more unlikely. P_Marlowe
So you are not afraid partner might pass the X? <snip> Why should I? Do we have game, most likely, but not certain, afterall the 3H was in 3rd seat, and this means,he could fool around in both directions.Do we have a sure slam? See the answer above. If partner passes, it will be ok. With kind regardsMarlowe
