gnasher
Nothing to cue bid, but too strong to sign off in 4♥ - probably a collection of trump honours and queens.
helene_t
3h=slam tryWhy 3h=slam try? This is a matter of agreement, but playing fast arrival, a weak hand would have bid 4♥. Even ff 2♥ is not game force, if responder has 3-card heart support it is probably enough to force to game, even with zero points. Otherwise you can play 2NT (or something else) as second negative after 2♥. I think serious 3NT applies here since both hands have a wide range. If you don't play any conventional 3NT bids in slamish situations, it is obviously a suggestion to play 3NT. But I think you can do without a natural 3NT here. phil_20686
My (flexible) agreement for 2♣ is less than 4 losers, so resopnder does not need a great hand to be forward going, but will often struggle for cue bids. He couldbe as good asQJQJxxxQJxQJx and have no obvious bid, well, maybe keycard :), but i would think 3nt is forward going in hearts with a preponderance of soft (but useful) values. I know some ppl play it as showing or denying good trumps. PHil
brianshark
With an expert partner and no agreement, I would assume it's slam interest.
SoTired
nothing to q-bid, but still interested in slam. trump honor(s) and Q's like in actual hand seems about right. Even if not playing "Serious 3N" this meaning seems clear, at least to me.
P_Marlowe
Do we play (non-)serious 3NT? In my opinion it should be serious, 3H did set the suit, now responder shows a (un-)suitable hand for slam inthe context of his bidding. With kind regardsMarlowe
