What is typical here is that you don't have an agreement with partner. I would assume that XX is an offer to play and pass it (I have a very suitable hand). However, it could be that partner is on a different wavelength and you go for 1600. It will at least make for an instant agreement and a good story. B)

You've got my sympathies...I don't fine the redouble a particularly useful or descriptive bid here.

I agree with the passers. Redouble is nonsense; pass is the only sensible bid because it shows 22-24 balanced. Then you take it out into 2.

Roland

Yes..xx is very bad here, and passing would show the balanced big hand and here you get to take advantage of the opp's x and stay below 2NT.

Switch the K and Q of spades, for example, and you might have made anyway! So just imagine how many overtricks you would make if partner had his redouble.

Ohhmmm and all is good.

I felt like bidding but since this is not an SOS, I ruefully passed, the play was not much fun.

Did you ask your PD why he redoubled ?

Hi,

First of all get a gun, maybe you can buy one cheap at eBay,

making an undiscussed XX is bound to create trouble, if

partner critices any of your actions you do, after you killed

the board, shoot him.

Second, I would pass, but ask me tommorow, and I may bid 2S

instead.

As it is, you may even survive a 3-3 fit, if partner happens to hold

a bal. +23 count.

With kind regards

Marlowe

No, no time but he did apologize for putting me in a bad spot.
