badderzboy
[hv=d=n&v=n&n=skxxhjxxxdakq10xxc&s=saqxxhakqxdxxcaxx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] We bid it 1♦-1♥-4♣(splinter)-4NT-5♦-5NT-6♦-7♥ but 7NT also has great chances do you settle for 7H or go for broke as not every pair can detect that partner has the right King? shevek
7NT seems clear, a good spot on the cards. Remember it might make when 7♥ fails, when somebody has a red suit void.7♥ may not be that popular because some Norths may not raise hearts. I wouldn't, prefer something like 2♠ over 1♥. OleBerg
Obviously I'd prefer 7nt. My system would get me to 7♥ though.
Finch
At imps, 7H is clearly better because of the HJ, but very few people have systems to work out which red suit jack they have. Even at MP I would be happy to play 7H. It is a rare field where you don't get a good board for bidding and making a grand on a combined 32-count in a 4-4 fit, and 7NT is going off, with 7H making, often enough to make 7H feel a better spot. If the North hand were instead KxxJxxxAKQJxx- (or the same without the HJ at all) it is much easier, as North can bid 7D over 5NT showing a solid suit, and South, who has extra high card values, has an easy conversion to 7NT. Sambolino
this isn't exactly my kind of 4c bid (prefer 4h). after 4c i'd bid 7h directly

On the rare occasion, where I have to go through a qualifying round, I'd still bid 7nt, practising for the final. Ok, I'm a little spoilt by playing in Denmark, where qualifying rounds are often fairly balanced, and reasonably long.
gwnn
I prefer 4♦ with North's hand. Then maybe you can find 7NT.
hrothgar
Would end up in 7♥ Prefer a 4♦ rebid by North after 1♥
