SoTired
Low spade. If a spade lead is right and you don't lead it, you look like a fool. Both club and heart may be reasonable alternatives.
P_Marlowe
Hi, I guess, I go with a spades, unless I am tryingsomething funny, usually I regret doing funny things. The alternative is clubs, although this needsprecisly the Ace of clubs with partner, and heshould also have a least 3 clubs.. I dont think heart is an real option, it lookslike, that partner has similar strength, i.e. there is no reason to expect, that he holdsgood hearts and out side entry. With kind regardsMarlowe

matmat
Small club. I don't like our chances with a spade lead. No honors, no sure entries, ... Your ♠A and your ♣K look like 2 reasonably likely entries? they might combine to be a single entry. It's not unlikely that p has a stiff spade on the auction, and the club ace might very well be over you. I am somewhat tempted to lead p's suit here. Guest Jlall
It seems like the options are clubs and diamonds. I would not lead a heart, it might be right but with LHO showing 4 hearts it is just too likely to pickle pard. A diamond is more passive, and if the opps are bidding some light game is more likely to be right than a club (but then spades is most likely to be right, even though I think that is a hopeless lead because it's only advantage is passivity). Clubs is more likely to set up our tricks before they set up theirs. As usual I prefer this route, trying for 3C+1S+1red trick or 4 clubs+1 spade, or 5C immediately. gnasher
This was the full hand:[hv=d=s&v=b&n=s2hj10765d8432ca103&w=sqhq942dkj765cq85&e=skj1053hak3daqc642&s=sa98764h8d109ckj97]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv]I held the East hand and made a rather strange-looking decision to pass out 2♠. On the actual deal, this the wrong thing to do if I was going to get a spade lead against 3NT, but probably right otherwise. This inaction didn't receive much sympathy from my teammates, so I was hoping that the BBO panel would provide a solid vote for a club lead. Oh well. [Edit: corrected the transposition of "right" and "wrong".] Edited August 20, 2008 by gnasher
Guest Jlall
Get new teammates, that is a really obvious pass of 2S with your hand and it is not close lol. I can't believe you think it's strange.
Rossoneri
I had my answer in mind and was wondering why no one mentioned till I read Justin's post. Seems that a club will rate to be better here though.

Edit: You have my sympathies.
jdonn
I have to confess I would have led a diamond. At least I'll get a second chance!
Lobowolf
I think the club lead is a standout (and did before I saw the entire hand). Declarer heard you bid spades, and the suit has no meat. You need help from partner...club lead seems to wish for the least - the QC, a trick in partner's hand, and a favorable position for the 10C, which seems percentage.
