pclayton
Careful, you might hit an 11 year old Chinese gymnast! WTF is up with the announcer saying 16 is the required age for gymnasts? Wasn't Comenici 13? I think the Chinese gymnast looks closer to 8 than 16.

jonottawa
I agree that the coverage has been bad. Bob Costas has been annoying, but not as bad as the gymnastics commentators. I also thought the guy that planted himself next to Michael Phelps' mom was creepy. Embarrassing that Canada has zero medals. Time to bring back tarring and feathering. And make MMA an Olympic event so that GSP has a chance to bring home the gold.

Gerardo
Since when there is a minimum age requirement?
jonottawa
Age requirement is lame. Also lame that US networks are focusing on 'total medals' as if that's meaningful. Obviously you go with a 3-2-1 or 4-2-1 or some such point count in which case China is dominating.
Gerardo
There is a british diver, aged 14. As long as I remember, the order was always Gold, then Silver, then Bronze.

As I understand it, the Ozzies even think runner up spot is simply "last loser" or something like that.

dicklont
Age requirement is lame. Do you think laws against child labour are lame too? Age requirement is supposed to protect children from training methods that don't fit their young body's and hinder their natural developpement. Not to speak of mental injury's. Gerben42
There was a story about the youngest participant in the Olympic Games, a 12-year old girl representing Cameroun in swimming. Chinese often look younger to Western eyes than they really are.

cjames
The age requirement varies from sport to sport, anyway the olympics have been a great watch so far. And here in Norway NRK which cover the olympics have two TV channels and five extra streaming channels on their website, all free. Good stuff. barmar
Since when there is a minimum age requirement? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_controversies_in_gymnastics The thing I find funny in that article is that they refer to these as "senior games". So bridge isn't the only game where "senior" doesn't mean you're ready to retire.

kfay
WTF @ Bolt's sprint. Why does he stop at 80m. Definitely felt this kind of is not in the Olympic spirit. Furthermore obviously he could have put up a mark that would not have been equaled for a long time.
Gerben42
WTF @ Bolt's sprint. Why does he stop at 80m. Because financially, it would have been best to run 9.71 this time, and 9.70 next time, and 9.69 after that.
