onoway
I noticed the other day when I subbed halfway through a tourney, that the (rather disastrous) scores for the first half of the tourney were inherited along with the scores for the hands I actually played. It isn't a major thing, but it is a little horrifying to see -52 at the end of a tourney when the hands I actually played would have been close to even. (Pay for open tourneys can sometimes be tough for intermediates :)) I wonder if this is part of the reason it is sometimes so hard to find subs and if this could somehow be dealt with differently? kenberg
I just finished a somewhat extreme case. I subbed after six boards, playing six more. I averaged sixty some percent (not through any great play, see below), the first six boards averaged twenty-some percent. Which is probably why they needed a sub. So I ended with forty some percent. However: a. I enjoyed the game.b. I misplayed a hand, well two of them actually, so I have something to think about.c. I helped out by filling in a movement, thereby storing up some karma somewhere. No one much sees these scores. Still, it might be an idea to list, by my name, "sub" when the scores are placed in the public record. It's a thought, and it would probably be easy to do. inquiry
Myhands only reflect the boards you actually played.... For obvious reasons, the result for the "partnership" has to be for all hands played in the event (even if you played only two boards). Old York
Quote.... Myhands only reflect the boards you actually played.... If Declarer exits during play, I always adjust the board before subbing. It is totally unfair to expect a substitute player to complete a hand without access to all the cards played up to that point. If a sub attempts to complete an impossible contract, then this result WILL be inherited and appear in Myhands, this is especially true of Sabotage attempts. (where a player bids to 7NTxx and then exits, there will be no record of this abuse) Tony (Duke of York)
