Automatic if I were in second seat, and I would still bid 3S here.

 

Sure, we could easily go for a number, but it is also reasonably likely that there is a double game swing (or that we can make 4S, or that they can make 4H, or that 3S is the par spot....).

With 5-5, I don't see how you cannot bid 3. It takes so little to produce a game that it is worth the risk that you might go for a number.

 

As han said, the chances that there will be a double game swing on this hand are quite high.

 

A better question might be this: If the auction went 3 - P - 4 to you, do you bid 4? I would.
